DCC Status and Visiting Scholar Privileges
We support formal requests from prospective visiting scholars to establish their association with the Arizona Institute for Resilience (AIR) as Designated Campus Colleagues (DCC). DCCs can include affiliates, associates, volunteers, and interns who contribute their time, services, and expertise to help the university accomplish its missions of teaching, research, and service. DCCs may be eligible for university privileges by virtue of their relationship with the university.
Visiting Scholars with DCC status enjoy (a) library privileges identical with those of the faculty; (b) the privilege of auditing classes without fee or record; (c) the privilege of attending and taking part in seminars; and (d) the use of laboratory and other space and facilities to the extent they are available. In addition, Visiting Scholars may purchase faculty parking permits and tickets to UA Presents events at employee rates.
International Scholars Guidance
Any DCC who is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States will provide a copy of visa documents showing an immigration status that is appropriate for the DCC type and duties/activities of the DCC assignment. The International Faculty & Scholars (IFS) unit within the UA Global offers support to departments regarding immigration regulations.
For non-U.S. residents, the University of Arizona and the U.S. government require certain forms to be completed that require fees including the J-1 processing fee. Learn more about the J-1 Exchange Visitor program. These papers only need to be processed after we've accepted your application.
